my creative practice stems from my spiritual practice.

in my process of making, I excavate the dark watery depths of my inner ecosystem
in order to transmute the pain buried within
into the light of creative expression,
using tools such as compassionate self-inquiry, mindfulness, and breath.

within the interconnected web of life,
which encompasses both the sublime beauty of the natural world
and the societal systems that seek to perpetuate selective silencing,
I carve my own path in which creative expression itself
becomes my native function as a conscious energetic being -
just as bees make honey
and spiders spin webs.

though institutions and their consequences are devastatingly real,
there exists a valuable exercise in finding ways to embody freedom
within the scope of my internal world.

it is especially crucial
to respect our own selves
to not smother our own voices at least within our own personal narratives.

this becomes a radical act in a consensus reality
that functionally depends on censoring intersectionally marginalized perspectives such as mine.

as Carol Hanisch writes - the personal is political.

in such a spirit, I choose to create works reflective of a free expression from within,
investigating ineffable communion with the divine.
